St Elizabeth is owned and operated by Mr Andrew Watt and Mrs Barbara Watt of 4 Coultas Road, Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh, Hampshire SO53 5BB.
The 17 bedded home is run on a day to day basis by Mrs Watt who is a qualified nurse with over 20 years experience in the NHS, much of which was spent in care of the elderly.
The home is run by a staff of 16 full and part time ladies who live locally and most of whom have worked at St Elizabeth for some years. Several are in the process of studying towards NVQ qualifications in Care, and regular in house training takes place in relevant subjects.
All staff report directly to Mrs Watt.
St Elizabeth is registered as a Residential Care Home under the Care Standards Act 2000, and admits male and female users over the age of 65 years and those who may have a diagnosis of dementia.
It should be noted that St Elizabeth is NOT a nursing home.
Admission is at the discretion of Mrs Watt, and usually an interview will take place with the prospective resident to assess their suitability to St Elizabeth's either on a long term or respite care basis, and vice versa.
The management and staff at St Elizabeth encourage full participation in daily life and activities are provided as part of the care package ie regular entertainer, trips out, chair aerobics, quizzes etc. However, the wishes of the resident are paramount. We do not however, offer therapeutic remedies.
We encourage residents to make suggestions and comment on the day to day running of the home, and will always endeavour to implement the wishes of the resident bearing in mind the need to maintain a level of care for all residents.
St Elizabeth is governed by and complies with current fire regulations, and is visited regularly by fire authorities to maintain standards. All rooms have smoke detectors and alarm activation points are strategically placed around the home. Staff also receive regular fire training by professional outside organisations licensed to do so. Escape procedures are displayed within the home.
St Elizabeth does not discriminate in respect of age, race, status, religion, gender or sexual orientation. We encourage religious worship whatever religion.
Visitors are encouraged to visit at any time and stay as long as they wish. We do, however, make visitors aware of meal times which can sometimes be less convenient for social discourse.
St Elizabeth operates a complaints procedure, details of which are displayed in the entrance hall and in the Service Users Guide. In the event of a complaint, every effort will be made to resolve the issue to everyone’s satisfaction.
Care plans are held in confidence in the home for all residents and are reviewed regularly. These are also regularly reviewed by CQC Inspectors.
St Elizabeth has 13 single rooms and 2 twin rooms, all of which meet CQC criteria in terms of size and ambience.
Whilst we provide a high level of care and security, we also maintain full recognition of the individual's right to be in control of their own life. The objective of all staff at St Elizabeth is to ensure a homely and caring environment for residents, without being over protective, whilst respecting the right of privacy. We strive to offer independence for as long as a resident chooses to live at St Elizabeth.
